My First Layout!

Happy Wednesday Krafters!

Since I shared a cake using the Cricut Cake machine for the first time, I figured I would take my “firsts” and run with the theme. So I decided to finish the week sharing some of my firsts. Today, I would like to share my very first layout, especially of my daughters!
As some of you may or may not know, I started scrapbooking in the spring of 2010. I don’t do many layouts, so I have found that I am really a scrap booker wanna be. I am really a card maker LOL. However, I will do a layout given the right mood, time and photo…..Anywho, I remember being so excited about doing this layout. I had just received my Cricut Create from HSN. At the time, I only had two cartridges, Sentimental and Heritage which came in the bundle. I also received some 6x12 Cricut cardstock and pattern paper. In my excitement, I recall buying some 12x12 of the ugliest paper from Big Lots. All I knew is that I wanted to start making layouts!
You will see, I knew absolutely nothing about trimming the page to 12x12. I thought the binding went through the strip on the side-how else would it get into a book? I didn’t know the page went into a page protector. I knew nothing about color matching. From the ugly paper pack I bought at BL and paper I received from my bundle, I was able to match up papers. However, the papers didn’t match any of the colors in the photo *blush*.  The good thing for me is there is no right or wrong in scrapbooking J I cut out the title and butterflies using my two cartridges! I offset the matting and the rest is history. I was well on my way! After it was done, I stood back and realized I just did my first layout! I was officially a scrap booker!
All in all, I was and still am very proud of this layout. I look at it sometimes and just reflect on how far I have come and how much further I can go. Thank you for looking at my first layout!
