That Hat!! Scraps of Color DT Project

Happy Easter/Resurrection Sunday (eve)  Krafters!

After you read this, you may think of me differently. Perhaps some of you can relate. Growing up, on Easter Sunday my mom would make me dress in a frilly dress, gloves, patent leather shoes, and a hat. Ugh, I strongly, on the verge of hated when Easter came around. I mean, it was bad enough going to an overcrowded church but to be uncomfortable too...that was too much! Then to add insult to injury after sweating out my freshly pressed hair, I had hat hair when I was able to FINALLY take off that hat! I think out of everything, the hat was the thing I could not tolerate. I did however like to have my hair down :)

As I was looking through the Silhouette Store, I saw the Easter Hat Box. I actually cringed. Then I had a thought, I could make it and give it to my mom as a "prank" because she knows  how I feel about hats. I purchased it and this is what I came up with.

I used plain card stock for the base of the hat. I inked the edged of the scalloped edge. The hat assembled a little wonky, so to hide that, I used tulle and added pearls to the base and top of the hat. To embellish, I kept it simple. I added a piece of pink frayed rosette. I also add two yellow roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. To finish it off, I added a feather.  What do you think?

The paper hat is not so bad. Perhaps I am being healed in the area of hat hating? I can tell you one thing, on Easter Sunday, I stick to the meaning of the day and fellowship with my family afterwards (that is what I LOVE about Easter aside for the true meaning behind it). Although mom is trying her hardest to get my girls into those dresses LOL...but no hats!!! What is your favorite or least favorite Easter memory?

I hope you enjoyed today's Project! Have a great weekend everyone...until next time, Krafthead~

B&W Thinking of You 'Birthday" Card

Hey Krafters,

I have been in a black and white mood lately. I really love the combination with a splash of color. To me, you can never go wrong. Also, the cards can be used for almost any occasion.

Anywho, here is my card share for today. I used three Spellbinders sets (I can't remember the names off hand other than the classic oval) to create four layers. I stamped and embossed the sentiment. For dimension, I popped up some of the layers and added shear ribbon. I used I Am Roses and Wild Orchid Craft flowers to embellish and finish off the card. Although I have the "thinking of you" sentiment, I used this as a birthday. The inside, (not pictured) said on your birthday.
Well that's it!! I hope you enjoyed today's project. Thanks for stopping by, Krafthead~

Play, Love, Soup

Hello Krafters!

I was challenged by my sister Kelli over at Favorite Favors! She made this awesome sketch and I had to post by today, April 4th. I met the deadline!! Yay me! Thank you Kelli for sharing the sketch and the challenge...

So let me start off by saying when my daughter gets older, she is going to probably kill me for sharing this post. However, it was too funny of an event not to share!  Ok to give you a little background, my daughter was about 2 years old. In the fall, I make soup. She decided to take it upon herself to "style" her hair! This girl used the soup as hair gel!! It was a mess! At first I was so upset as I had JUST did her hair, but then I thought this would be a funny photo to look at when she was older (this was before my scrapbooking days). By the time I grabbed the camera, she was crying...felt bad, but still could not resist!
To put this layout together I tried to stick to the sketch. I made my own background paper by splattering Glimmer Mist and Lindy's Stamp Gang. I also sprayed the ribbon with the same colors. For the pattern paper, I used Imaginisce. I used embellishments from my stash. It was so fun to put together!
I hope you enjoyed today's project..and I pray my daughter will be able to forgive me. Thank you so much for stopping by, Krafthead~

SOC DT Project-Save That Styrofoam Packaging

Hello Krafters!

Have you ever saved something and had no idea why? This happens to me all the time. A few months back, I received a package in the mail and it included some circular packaging. Usually packages have that waded wrapping paper or packing peanuts. When I saw these pieces I knew I had to save them. Why and for what though?

I made an ATG stand years ago. When I purchased a new gun, I did not have a place to store it. I thought about making a new stand, but I wanted something quick. After thinking and getting tired of knocking it over because I would sit it upside down, I remembered the Styrofoam!

I traced the bottom of the ATG Gun and cut the Styrofoam with an Exacto Knife. Since the gun has a slight angle, the inside is not cut straight across. Once the hole was satisfactory, I measured the Styrofoam and cut a strip out of the DCWV Glam Girl paper stack (it has a lot of purple in it and it is cute). I applied the paper and cut down some mesh bling. I added that and then several flowers (stampin’ scrappin’, I Am Roses and Wild Orchid Crafts) to the base.

I also decided to alter the ATG Gun to coordinate with the base. I used the same sheet of paper and measured both sides of the gun. I added the mesh bling to both sides, but flowers to one side shown. I only altered the one side because I like the gun to lay flat when I change the tape.

I really like how it turned out and the gun can be taken out at any time or it can stay in the base while being used!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Don't forget to stop by the Scraps of Color blog for more project inspiration! Thank you all so much for stopping by, Krafthead~

Practical Scrappers DT-Vellum

Hello Krafters,

I am proud to show my first project as a Practical Scrapper! Today's theme was to use vellum 10 different ways. I opted to do dry and wet embossing on vellum. Check out the Practical Scrappers Blog for more ideas on how to use vellum on your projects! There are some really neat projects on there!

I used DCWV's Natural Stack for the pattern paper. I layered the vellum on top after running it through the Script embossing folder. This adds a nice amount of texture and elegance to a project. I especially like to do this technique on wedding cards or sympathy cards. I also embossed the vellum leaf with the Swiss Dot embossing folder in the flower spray (Wild Orchid Crafts Poppy Flowers).

For the sentiment, I used Versa Mark and white embossing powder. I really love the look of embossing on vellum! I backed it with a piece of cardstock so the sentiment does not get lost in the pattern.

To finish off the card, I punched out the borders out of the pattern papers and used the Picot Spellbinders Die for the sentiment. I also did faux stitching around the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's project. Remember to check out PracticalScrappers daily for projects and inspiration! Krafthead~

***TIP*** I like to use the Zig 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere vellum to a project. It is virtually invisible and holds vellum well too :)!

Pigtailed Princess

Good Day Krafters!

I recently participated in the “Lift the Person Before You Challenge” on the sb.com forum. I like joining challenges from time to time just to keep the creative juices flowing. You can see the original layout here.

For this project, I used the Bo Bunny Little Miss Collection. That collection is truly divine! I had a hard time choosing papers to use. I decided to use two pieces, and use the front and back. It is too beautiful to waste!

The little girl in the photo is my oldest daughter when she was about 10 months old. I still cannot believe how fast time flies!

Whelp that is it! I thank the hostess for hosting the challenge and I thank Speppers1 for the original project! I had a fun time putting this together and I hope that you enjoyed looking at it! Trust me, you will be seeing this beautiful paper again! Thank you so much for stopping by, Krafthead~

Coral Couture Mother's Day

Hello Krafters,

Welcome to day two of Krafting Love’s Mother’s Day Celebration! Today I am sharing an easy card. DCWV’s Coral Couture paper is GORGEOUS! Most of the papers make a beautiful card all by themselves. Since this pattern is so pretty, I did not want to over embellish. I printed a sentiment off the computer and cut it with a tag Nestibility. I also used the Classic Oval die to layer behind the sentiment which was dry embossed. I added a few flowers, sprays, lace, pearls and butterflies to finish it off.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thank you for stopping by, Krafthead~
