Altered K

Hello Krafters,

A while back, Joann's had some letters on clearance. Believe it or not, they only had three the letters left and the letter K was one of them! I bought it for $1 and some change. I was so excited to alter this letter for my room! For some reason though, the letter sat and sat and sat and SAT! For weeks, I looked at this little naked letter. On a trip to Hobby Lobby (I don't get there often since it is about 25-30 minutes away from where I live) I saw the Spring in Bloom GCD paper collection on clearance (do you notice a clearance pattern here?). That beautiful paper was the inspiration; this paper is what I was subconsciously waiting for!

Although I didn't have to paint the letter because it was white, I wanted to use crackle paint. I painted the base black and then added Picket Fence Crackle Paint. Once it dried, I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to darken the crackle paint and make it match the paper. The paper also had a crackle pattern on it; so it was perfect!

For the embellishments, I used a TH Ornate Plate and a butterfly charm. Under the Gardenia, I placed some representation of some of my favorite things; shoes, and crafting J To change the color, I painted them with the gold alcohol ink mixative. I left it streaky so it looked distressed. I like the alcohol ink because you don't lose the detail in the image and it is permanent! The sentiment was embossed with gold tinsel embossing powder.

That beautiful trim is from my stash which was layered with a strand of iridescent pearls on top.  The flowers are from I Am Roses flowers. The pearl spray is from Karlas001 Esty store. I also used a ZVA pearl flourish and a feather from my stash.

Well that is it for today! I appreciate each and every one of you for stopping! You are my reason for blogging :)! Krafthead~
