2012 Review..Moving into 2013

Happy New Year’s Eve Krafters!

I have to admit, 2012 was a very rough year. I lost my brother, father and my aunt. The deaths were hard to take. However, it was not all bad. I count my blessing as they come. My family and I are in good health, we have not missed a meal or bill. God allowed us to have favor and the resources needed to survive. Thank you Lord for all of your grace and mercy!

Since this is the final day of 2012, I put together a short video of some of my favorite project that was made this year. As I was making the video, I could not help but reflect. I also prayed and I am looking forward to 2013. I know there will be some challenges, but I faith to believe it is going to be good year! I am claiming, declaring and decreeing it so in Jesus’ name!

So from my family to yours, Happy New Year to you and yours! May it be one of praise, peace and prosperity, Krafthead!

Hello Krafters!

Kenya here to share some last minute and inexpensive home décor or gift ideas with you. As many of you know, I LOVE vinyl! One reason is because it cuts so beautifully on the BossKut Gazelle. The other reason is you can customize SO many things with it.

Today, I am sharing two projects (dinner napkin and hand towels) using Heat Transfer Vinyl which can be purchased at BossKut.com. For both projects I used the Mini Holly Collection. There are so many files in this collection. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I decided to only use the holly.

I brought the file into FunTime and typed in the family’s name. When cutting HTV, make sure you mirror the images. I cut them out on the BossKut Gazelle using the vinyl blade with a speed of three and a force of 4 (because of the glitter vinyl). I did not do a kiss cut on this particular type of vinyl like I normally do. I used my heat press for the projects, but a good ole trusty iron will work too with a Teflon sheet. PLEASE make sure your images do not shift! One of mine did, BUT this is just for my home so it did not bother me much!

First I started with the holly and the lettering. I heated it for approximately 10 seconds. I peeled off the plastic and applied the berries and set it for another 10-15 seconds. Peel off the plastic. That is it! My kitchen is festive and I have some cool napkins too J

Holly Mini Collection

Scraps of Color DT Project-Tree Skirt

Hello Krafters!

Like clockwork my Christmas tree is up by the Sunday following Thanksgiving! For the last few years I vowed I was going to make a tree skirt which was going to be an heirloom. I had all of these ideas. Life happened and that project did not manifest…yet. However, I had some felt and some heat transfer vinyl (my new favorite) left over and went to work!

The images are from the Silhouette store and they were cut on the Cameo. After they were cut (blade set at 3) I adhered the vinyl (heat press, but you can use your iron on the highest setting) and that was that! The best thing is about this project is that it was made from scraps and it is a project my family and I can admire for years to come!!!! It looks better in real life!

Black and White Season's Greetings

Hi Krafters!

I cannot believe Christmas is next week!!! I don’t know about where you live, but we have not had any measurable now in approximately 287 days here! While I am not complaining about the lack of snow, but it truly is unheard of in Wisconsin! Well if you are missing snow (I’m not) here is a card for you J

My dear sis Kelli and I decided to do a swap. The challenge was to only use the colors black, white, grey/silver and a splash of color. Trust me, it was a challenge!

For this project, I used the Village Park stamp set by Inkadinkado. I stamped the trees first and cut the image out with the circle Nestability. I also stamped the sentiment with white ink and cut that out with a labels die. On a separate sheet of cardstock, I stamped the bridge and fussy cut it. I colored the image with colored pencils. I used Stormy Sky Distress Ink for the Sky. For a snowy affect, I used Diamond Stickles and let those dry. Finally I mounted the bridge with foam dots. The border was made using a Martha Stewart punch which was layered with a white ribbon.

BK DT Project-Joy Word Book

Hi Krafters!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it is hard for me to think of interactive handmade gifts for people. I mean, everyone in my circle are not scrappers. Honestly, when people find out I make cards and I scrapbook, I get the eyebrow…to get them involved (without them knowing) I found mini albums are the ticket! However, they can be very time consuming. In the end though they are worth it because people add their own photos and they truly treasure them!

One of the new releases consisted of a “Joy” Word Mini Book. All of the work was done for me and I am going to look like I worked on this chipboard mini album for a long time (it didn’t take long…shhh).

This project was pretty straight forward. The first step was to cut the file with chipboard. Next I cut it in the pattern paper twice (one mirrored for the backs). I also cut the word Joy separately in chipboard.

 Once I had the album assembled, I used the O’Hannah Oval file for the label and corner. They were heat embossed with gold embossing power. I also cut the Swirly Holiday Tree file in glitter paper (can be purchased at BossKut.com). The tree file is very intricate to begin with, but to cut glitter paper can be scary. However, I was not afraid cutting it with the Gazelle. As you can see, it cut like butter! The photos can be place under the corners and the tree.

Today over at Practical Scrappers, a fellow DT member Julie and I decided collaborate (well actually she graciously shared her spot with me) to and use the gorgeous Turtle Dove Collection by Kaisercrafts.  Julie, thank you for sharing your post with me and for the inspiration! My first project is a 6x6 card. I fussy cut the images from the collection. I also added a Cherry Lynn doily using a pattern from the collection. 

There are several pieces of pattern papers from the collection.

The second project is a tag. On the tag I used an image from the collection. 

I also fussy cut the bell from the collection. Then I used berries I had from Michaels.

Hi Krafters!

Today I am sharing a card that I made for a challenge. I really like how this one turned out. The good thing is this card can be massed reduced. I designed it on my Gypsy using the Teresa Collins Silhouette digital and Paper Doll Dress Up cartridges. 

Since it has been a while, I don’t remember the pattern paper exactly. I used a mixture of DCWV’s Winter Magic and their stack from last year-my apologies.L The sentiment was heat embossed using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sheba’s Silver.
