Hello Everyone,
Kenya here to share a very quick and easy altered project with you. A few weeks ago, I was walking down the aisle at Michael’s and saw this cut little easel chalkboard! I thought it would make the perfect back to school project. Side note…can you believe fall is here?!?!?!
The first thing I did was tape off the chalkboard portion to prime the paint with Gesso. As you can see, I got a little in the middle (cause I was distracted) but I took care of it by covering it up with a piece of DCWV’s chalkboard cardstock! So make sure you tape off the ENTIRE chalkboard surface and not just the sides!
Once the Gesso dried, I painted the exposed wood with Ivory Folk Art paint. Since it was brighter than the paper I chose (G45’s An ABC Primer) I toned it down with a few dabs of Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I took a pattern from the paper collection and adhered it to the frame of the chalkboard. I did not want to over embellish as I want it to still be functional. I did a little fussy cutting from the collection and added an I Am Roses flower to it and viola…DONE!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Pop over to the Scraps of Color Espire Blog for more projects J….Thanks for stopping by, Kenya
