Take Me to the Water!

Hello Krafters!

Today is my day over at She’s a Sassy Lady! Now my project is not traditional by any means. Let me give a little background. I used to work in the Printing and Publishing field in the Graphic Design department That was many moons ago. After being laid off when the Twin Towers were destroyed, I did not play with any of my software. Unfortunately for me, I forgot a lot and the program changed so much during that time. In 2011, I purchased Photoshop Elements and I liked it. I was learning the program. The developers made the program simple! However, my computer crashed. Then I received Photoshop (the full program) and was completely lost! I am relearning the program again along with Illustrator. So long story short, I am sharing a simple entry level digi layout! By the way, this is the first layout (of any kind) this year for me. I was just happy to create LOL!

I forgot to take screen captures of the process so here is the process “verbally”: I made the base layer by filling it in with a solid color and using a preset brush to make a pattern paper. I added layers of colors (mats) and shadows for a little dimension. I even used a pattern on one of the layers for more texture. I made the fishtail banner in Illustrator as well as the chevron pattern and brought them over to PS. I typed out the title (I got it from the song we sing before baptisms) and “wrote” my journaling.

The photo is of my second oldest daughter being baptized. She came to her father and I and asked if she could. We talked to her about what that meant and she understood what she was asking. She made the decision and this is her coming out! Here it is-

I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Thank you for letting me share one of my special moments with you. Please check out the other talented DT members at She's a Sassy Lady!! Until next time, create, create, CREATE!!! Krafthead~

Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday and Happy June Krafters!

I am wrapping up the last project of NSBD! The final challenge was to complete a layout using a provided sketch. At first I was not going to do this challenge, but at the last minute I figured I would since I did all of the others. So this is what I did. I will be redoing this one in the future because it has potential. That is the beauty of digi layouts J

Have a great weekend everyone! Krafthead~

Memories: Journaling Challenge NSBD

Happy Memorial Day All!

I hope you all have a wonderful day remembering what this day signifies! I plan to throw some goodies on the grill and fellowship with my friends and family.

The project I am sharing today is one of the best memories I have of my daughter. When she was about 18 months or so, she used to say, “Wait a minute” all the time! It was hilarious! When she said it, she always had this expression on her face! It was the cutest thing…seriously! This is another project I did during NSBD. The challenge was all about journaling!

Although this day is to reflect on the men and women that sacrificed their lives for us, I encourage you to remember loved ones and simpler times. Thanks for stopping by, Krafthead~

NSBD-Like Home Challenge

Hello Kafters!

Here is another project from NSBD! I know many of you seen this already in my gallery. However, I wanted to share anyway. This challenge was to make a layout about your home or a place that reminded us of home. I decided to do a digi on my city. This was really fun to do! The papers are from Krista Designs; aren’t they great!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!  Thanks for stopping by, Krafthead~

Subscriber Corner: Erin Bradley~

Subscriber Corner is something new I am going to implement on my blog. I give my subscribers shout outs for various reasons! I hope all like the new additionJ …now on with the post!

Hello Krafters!

Ahhhhh, I wanted to share something other than a card…aren’t you glad?? LOL! Many moons ago, I worked in the Printing and Publishing field. I was very familiar with Photoshop and all of its power. However, as the old saying goes, if you don’t use it, you lose it! I have had PSE for a while, but I only used it for minor photo touch-ups and played around with adding pictures to a template (shared here before). I wanted to sit down and begin to learn what this program has to offer. I have to say, it is much different than what I remembered…sigh….

Erin Bradley had a freebie paper pack (Summertime) on her blog and her digital papers were the inspiration for this project! Go check out her blog because she has beautiful images there. Remember, you can always print the papers if you don’t want to venture into digi scrappingJ. So thank you Erin for offering your lovely papers…it pushed me past my comfort zone!

This project was intimidating but fun and I know I have a lot to learn, but I am happy I made the attempt! I love the feel of paper so I doubt I will switch to digi. BUT I will make more of an effort to do more digital scrapping in the futureJ

Thank you once again Erin and I thank all of you for coming along with me on my digi journey. Thanks for stopping by, Kraftehead~
