One Sheet Mini Flip Book SASL DT Project

Hello Krafters!!

Did y'all miss me?? I know it has been a few weeks since I shared anything. For that, I apologize. It has been crazy busy lately, but I think I have finally found my groove. I am sharing a project for She's A Sassy Lady today!

Do you have a lot of pattern papers laying around and you want to use them up? Are you limited on time? Need a few ideas for the upcoming holiday season? Then this idea is for you! I revisited a project I did for a teacher years ago. It is simple to put together and you can use what you have in your stash. This mini brag book or mini album can be used for almost anything you want it to be and you can decorate the outside as much as you would like as well! This particular project will be used as a memory book for a new baby. 

1. Take one sheet of 12x12 cardstock (any color) *use thick and sturdy (Bazzill, Stampin’ Up, etc) 
   
2. Cut the cardstock at the 6.25” mark. This will be your cover and the 5.75” will be the inside pages 
   
3. The larger portion, score ate 3”, 3.25”, 8” and 8.25” (or score where you want! depending on how you want your book to close)
   
4. The inside pages, score at .25”, 4.25”, and 8.5” and fold accordion style. 
5. Assemble the book! Add adhesive to the .25" and place nudged to the second score line on the cover. This will allow the photos to be accessed on the front and back of the pages. 
6. Cover the pages and decorate as you wish! I used the Nana Kids and Sweet Stack by DCWV (VERY old collections I had in my stash) 
   
7. I used the Art Philosophy (photo corners), Nursery Tails (baby info-Imagine cartridge), and Nursery Rhymes (back cover) Cricut cartridges. 
8. “Beautiful Journey” was cut with the Sizzix thinlits dies (I believe it is named Explore)
9. I wanted to keep this simple so I just added a Martha Stewart punched butterfly from left over pp I had to the front and back of the book)

That’s it!! This would be easy to make for teachers as gifts or even a fun craft to do with the kiddos on a cold or rainy day. I plan to do this with mine to document their summer! It can hold a lot of photos too!

Brand New

Happy Thursday Krafters!

As I’ve mentioned before, I participate in two monthly challenges over at scrapbook.com. It is a great way to actually do layouts as well as give the Cricut a workout. By being a part of the Cricut Challenge, I remember why I loved the machine years ago!

Today I am sharing a layout lift from the second challenge. I had the privilege of lifting toni-n-tn’s Brand New layout. Be sure to check out the original here. While the original is beautiful and the inspirational force behind the lift, what I love is making the layout my own! This is a photo of my son taken hours after being born. It is hard to believe almost a year has gone by! I am still in awe!

I used Design Space for the hearts, title, tag and arrow. I welded several open hearts to create the distressed heart. I also used the write and cut by attaching the information to the tag. I also used TH’s thin dies for the words along with the Spellbinder’s Grunge Words.

Thank You Very Much SASL DT Project

Hello Krafters!

It is my day over at She's A Sassy Lady! Today's project is two-fold. First, I have to admit, I do not want summer to end! School is back in session for most student which means fall is a couple weeks away. The card has a summer feel to it and I like that. Secondly, I was treated to some crab cakes. Hence the crab! I wanted to show my appreciation…they were SO good!

This card was created using scraps of cardstock (Bazzill, Core’dinations, Paper Trey Ink, and Neenah Solar Bright). For the different cuts, I used Life’s a Beach (wave) and Create a Critter (crab) Cricut cartridges. I also used the Wonky Rectangle from Avery Elle and Puffy Clouds from Lawn Fawn. The sentiment is a CTMH stamp (Just Saying) which coordinates with the Artfully Sent Collection. 

Putting this card together was easy. If you have been following me for a while, you know I do a  lot of 10 minute or less cards. This one took approximately 15 minutes because of searching for the right cuts. As the Cricut was busy cutting, I cut each layer with the Wonky Rectangle die. I ran the wave through as well for the cut to be uniform with the others. I added a little texture to the crab with the crimson Copic marker. I tore the sand for more texture and interest to the card.

Oh Baby

Hi Krafters!

Anyone who knows me know I am a private person. So sharing this project was difficult and out of my comfort zone. I was looking for something and found a picture (my only bare one) of my pregnant belly! I was 7.5 months along with my oldest (2004). I didn't know she was a she at the time, but I was so proud. As I shared before, we were told we could not have children so this photo is a true testament of the power of God!

I am participating in the Cricut Challenge and Scraplift the Person Before You this month. I had the privilege to lift Arteshamac’s Hello Love layout. I encourage you to join challenges to keep your juices flowing!

I used Sophie (doilies), Graphically Speaking (arrows), Wild Card (brackets) and Calligraphy (title) Cricut cartridges. The paper is a collection by Teresa Collins. I also used a stamp set by Close to My Heart (Save the Date-I believe it is) for the corners and “remember”. The large butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. The flowers are I Am Roses which I used Gesso to tone down the pink. The princess charm is from my stash. Finally I added Recollection bling.

True Love-She's A Sassy Lady DT Project

Happy Sizzling July Krafty People!

It’s my day over at She’s A Sassy Lady! I had so many 4th of July plans to share BUT my plans crumbled. Love can bring metaphoric fireworks right? I know, kind of a stretch! Well, I have an anniversary card to share today!

My pastors celebrated 16 years of marriage. I would say some kind of fireworks had to be ignited…at least sparklers? If you knew them, you would understand the love and affection they share with each other.

Ok, enough with puns, on to the project! I used Design Space to design the card. I used the Sweethearts and Beyond Birthdays cartridges. I selected the images I desired and imported them onto the virtual mat. I made the frame by inserting a shape (square) and resizing it into a rectangle. Once  I was satisfied with the size, I duplicated the shape, aligned it and sliced the shape. 

Then I took the word “Love” and duplicated that twice and lined it up inside the frame. Then I added “True love” to the bottom and welded the words and shape together. After I was happy with the design, I cut them out using the Bo Bunny Crush collection and solid white Neenah white card stock. The little hearts were on the side and cut later. I also cut the “L” for love in a solid black. I later added “16” to represent the number of years of marriage. 

Once everything was cut out, I layered the pattern paper on the card stock for stability. I added the transparency to build a shaker card (last minute decision). I used the hearts (which were going to be added to the front) as the confetti and added some sequins to the inside. I also have the “16” peaking out at the bottom. For a finishing touch and shimmer, I added a little Wink of Stella to the “True Love”.

Hello Krafters!

Today I am sharing a cute and inexpensive home decor project with you! I am not one to have a lot of family photos on the wall, but a friend on FaceBook shared a photo from a business that really liked over a year ago. In my attempt to spruce up the family room, I remembered her post! I’m glad I did because we did not have any up-to-date photos up and not one of RJ! It was time for change.  

I went on Amazon to compare the price and for the kit, the price ranged from $35 and up. I ended up purchasing a clock kit for $14.00 and purchased a few picture frames from the Dollar Tree. I have to say, overall, the selection was nice for frames. Any who, I decided to change up the design just a little than from the original. On the photo my friend shared, they used 4x6 photos. For the 12, 3, 6, and 9, I used 5x7 photos instead. I wanted those particular photos to be a little larger. The wall saying on theirs was,  “Time with family is worth every second.” I love that saying, but again, I want to make it my own. So I used the Cricut and a Teresa Collins cartridge for the saying. To me, time with family is EVERYTHING! 

I spent a fraction of the price and I was able to make the project my own.

Handsome Fellow- SASL DT Project

Hello Krafters!

It’s my day over at the She’s A Sassy Lady blog! I believe there is a time in every crafter’s life when he or she gets burned out or lose their creative flow. I was there about a year ago. I would get ideas, but when I would go into my crafting space, things would not go right and I would be frustrated and leave. Although I was afraid, I took a well needed break. The reason why I was afraid was because I did not want to be so far gone that I did not return to something that was once enjoyable for me. 

After not even going in the room for months, I entered the zone. I felt on papers, I organized some items, I purged, and then something happened. I was inspired again! I rediscovered old items and rekindled love for machines I pondered on getting rid of. I was in love with the craft I started to despise! 

One of the first things I did was enter a challenge on one of my frequently visited forums. I had not used my Explore except for once (just to make sure it worked) and there is sat. The Cricut Challenge Forum allowed, actually forced, me to learn Design Space and use the Explore. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it cut. While the program lacks some features I use in other software, it is easy to use. This month, I joined a “lift” challenge as well. 

Why did I share all of this? Well if you ever get to that place, it is ok to take a break. When you finally feel inspired, join a challenge or two. Challenges make you accountable for creating (at least for me) and you can have encouragement from fellow scrappers! It was exactly what I needed after my slump.

Today, I am sharing a “lift” from a young lady who goes by Liljenny. The challenge is to lift a layout of the person who signed up for the challenge ahead of you. While there was a lot to choose from in her gallery, I chose this one. It is a pretty clean and simple design. This is the first traditional scrapbook page I made in over a year and the first one of my son! Here is my version:

I used navy Bazzill cardstock as the base. The photo was matted on white Bazzill cardstock. The pattern papers came from the DCWV Guy Stack and the Swagger stack by Fancy Pants. I did a few fishtails on the ends of those to add to the design (and to make it my own). I used brads I had in my stash to add a little interest to the page. The sentiment is from the Lovely Floral Cricut cartridge. It is on foam squares for dimension. I also added a little journaling to the page in a white gel pen and that is it!

Father's Day Card Share

Hello Krafters!

I am stopping by to share a couple of Father’s Day cards I made for some of the men in my life! Most of the cards took me only a few minutes to complete…yep my 10 minutes or less cards! Hopefully this will be a short post! Enjoy! 

The first card I used a stamp set by Hero Arts (LOL). I am not sure if I like this set yet. I can see a lot of potential for it. I mean, everyone has a phone attached to them! The set can make nice cards for teens or the “technology” lover. One thing I like about the set is the blank speech bubbles. I can add my own words/phrases to them. I don't like the solid phone image though. It took me several times to get the stamp “used” and I had to go over it a few times to make it a solid image. I am happy I used the K.A.S.T.I.! I made the background paper using a few stamps from the set. Since this card was for my brother, I wanted to not go overboard. I added a little Wink of Stella to the phone for a subtle shimmer to the phone without making it “glittery” or girly. 

The second card was inspired by a video I saw a while back on YouTube. Unfortunately, I do not remember who it was. I liked how she used the stripes and she has her sentiment attached to the stripes. The background was made by Copic markers and the Tim Holtz Spritzer. This was the first time I used it after having the thing for well over a year! I can see myself using it again! Any who, I made my “splotches” in three different colors and used those same colors to color the stripes. I stamped “Happy Father’s Day” from a Technique Tuesday sentiment stamp set. I added a little Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. It actually gave the same effect as the Wink of Stella Pens! Very subtle shimmer. Card complete!

The final card I put the Cricut Explore to work. With the exception of “designing” and cutting this card took less than 5 minutes to put together. I made the background using basic shapes in the Design Space. I used square, made it into a rectangle, at 4.25x5.5. I then duplicated the rectangle, resized it to fit into the first rectangle and sliced the image. Once I had a frame, I added the strips and then did the same thing for the circle. I welded the two images together to make the background image. The sentiment is from Wild Card (I believe). After the images were cut, I placed them on the card base and that was that!

SASL DT Congratulations Wedding Shaker/Easel Card

Hi Krafters~

It is my day over at She’s A Sassy Lady! Make sure you go over there and check out the other design team members! Trust me when I tell you, if you need inspiration, that is the perfect place to go! 

My mom asked me to make a wedding card for her bosses’ daughter. Talk about pressure! I wanted to make a “pretty” card, something the couple can cherish, but also something interactive. Hmmmm what to do? I had a lot of designs in my head but none of the felt right. Plus I did not have a color scheme to go with. I went with white with silver accents. 

Shaker cards are all the rave right now! What else are we going to do with all of those sequins? I also wanted to play with my new Anna Griffin Minc (a review is coming soon). I decided to do a shaker easel card. It is something interactive but can sit nicely on the mantel. 

For this A2 sized card, I used the Cricut and Design Space. While the heart, rings and “congratulations” were cutting on the machine using the ink toner sheet included with the Minc, I embossed the mat with a Cuttlebug folder and cut out a circle frame. I used one of the backgrounds which also came in the Minc bundle. This was the first time I used it. Again, a review is coming! Anywho, all of the elements were cut out and I assembled the card. The Anna Griffin background adds the silver foil element I wanted and it is also the backing for the sequins (iridescent and silver) in the shaker portion of the card. I also foiled the sentiment and the rings. The heart is mounted on recycled packaging I had. I threaded the rings with the shear ribbon and added faux pearls to the heart. 

In the inside, I stamped a wedding poem. To help the easel stay propped up,  I stamped a ring and popped it up with a pop dot. That’s it!

I know several people who has recently graduated or will be in the next few days. My oldest daughter will have her completion ceremony next week from elementary school. It is hard to believe she will be going to middle school next school year! Her teacher graduated recently in hopes in becoming a principal. Although she is new to the school this year, we have a really good rapport. So I wanted to share the card I made for her with you!

I wanted to have a little fun with this card. I used Design Space to layout the card’s design. I deviated from my original template just a little bit to add “movement” or the allusion of the caps being thrown in the air. I’m glad I did!

The caps and the buildings in the background was cut with the Cricut. While those were cutting, I used Lawn Fawn’s Large and Small Stitched Rectangles (you might get tired of seeing them but hey they are my new favorite1) for the matting. I also used the Stitched Hills and the Blue Skies (Clouds) dies from Lawn fawn. 

In the middle of the caps for interest and to make the hat look a little more realistic, I used brads I had in my stash. They were different colors,  so I colored them with the black Copic marker. Once the card was assembled, I added Wink of Stella (clear) to the clouds for a subtle shimmer. I also used a stamp from my stash. 

For the inside, I stamped a sentiment and a graduation hat to tie in the inside to the front of the card. That’s it!

Hello Krafters!

So I have been on a stamping/die kick as of late!  Lawn Fawn is my new favorite! There are so many stamps sets I want, but alas, my bank account says, “Girl, get a grip; you have to wait for that!” There is a cute little elephant stamp set by Avery Elle that I want but it was sold out everywhere! I decided to make a “faux” stamped elephant card….I used what I had. My checking account thanks me and I am sure my husband would do the same LOL.

I used the Cricut Explore to make today’s project. In design space, I made the elephant from Birthday Bash into a draw and cut image. The Momento Marker did not fit, so I used a black Crayola Marker and heat set it. I used Copic Markers (cool grays) to color the image. I made my own pattern paper using a stamp (gray from Stampin’ Up) from a set I had from a long time ago. I also pulled out the Stitched Rectangle die from Lawn Fawn (my new favorite die) and the Rounded Rectangle Stitch die by MFT. The pinks from the image and the cardstock matched nicely together. To finish off the card, I added Stickles to the heart. It bled a little, but not too badly. I stamped my sentiment, added pink Trendy Twine and added Sequins.

Honestly, I believe we all have what we need in our stash, but “products” just make projects easier to make. I will make an attempt to work a little harder to stop going for the latest greatest and go with what is already in my possession! Krafthead~

Happy To Be Me Canvas

Hello Krafters,

Over at scrapbook.com, I joined the Cricut Challenge for this month. Let me tell you, I haven’t played with my Explore in forever! After doing the update and calibrating the machine, I was set. One thing I do like about Design Space is having access to all of the cartridges I have linked. The down side is having the internet connection. I mean really, if the internet connection is slow or the servers are down, the machine is worthless! Nonetheless, the machine cuts beautifully and I am happy to have it in my arsenal. 

The inspiration came from a booklet I received from the Scrapbook Expo. There is this beautiful canvas in the book for a class the Expo was offering. I believe Quick Quotes was offering the class. Since I had to take my son with me this year, I couldn't take any of the classes. So I decided to do my own interpretation of it on my own and save a few dollars too LOL! 

I used French Manor (clock), George (frames), Floral Embellishments (flowers-or some other floral cartridge, can’t really remember) and Wall Decor and More (florishes). The papers are Prima’s Lyric collection. I stamped images on the back of the paper since the collection is one sided and it would be exposed. I also used Bo Bunny for the leaves. The title was cut from the Grunge die set from Spellbinders.To finish off the canvas, I cut a few butterflies from two different Martha Stewart punches and added some bling to the frame and butterflies. I will add a photo of myself later.
