Thank You: Sketch Challenge

Happy Wednesday Krafters!

As I looked though the blogs I followed the other day, I noticed Silhouette had a fairly easy sketch featured on their blog. I rarely do sketches for cards, but this day I needed a quick card and the sketch was perfect! I believe you can still participate in the challenge. Go check it out!

Here is my take on the sketch. 

The challenge was to use a tag and a speech bubble. Both were purchased in the Silhouette Store. The best thing about this card is that it is made with mostly scraps!

Practical Scrappers DT Project: Gift Bag Envie

Hello Krafters!

Over at PracticalScrappers, it is all about envelopes! Yea we all have them and only use them to hold all of those gorgeous cards! However, there is so much that can be done with them! Please go over there and check out more projects.

Here is the tutorial where I got the idea from. The bags are so simple and really inexpensive to make too! I used the Santa’s Village Christmas Cartridge for the tag and the decoration on the front. Easy peasy!

October Follower's Corner

Good Day Krafters!

It has been a while since I have done a Follower’s Corner. I know I typically do this at the end of the month, but this one is special. Today I would like to honor Ms. E from Miladylc’s Fun Page. She is a very kind woman and has been an inspiration for me! 

October happens to be Ms. E’s birthday month! Since we live in different states, so I wanted to drop a card in the mail for her. Here is a card that can be mailed easily, but does not have all of the bulk. This card was lifted from Gina K!  My only complaint about the card is the lace stamp. It is a very pretty stamp until it stamps! It did not stamp well at all L I hope she still liked it anyway!

Hi Krafters!

Do you sometimes find yourself putting so much emphasis on a project it ends up taking much longer than anticipated? I can admit I do! I don’t know about you, but my crafting time is very limited and I do not have time to fuss about embellishments or whatnots! So I suggest to you, let your pattern paper work for you J

There are some gorgeous papers out there, but sometimes we can’t see it because the paper is almost completely covered. In today’s project, I decided to let the paper shine through and I kept the embellishments to a minimum.

I used the awesome Tattered Time by DCWV. I enjoy using this paper when I make masculine cards! Not that the paper needed any help, I used the Sprightly Sprockets Spellbinder Dies. I used Inka Gold to “distress” them a bit. I had a clock that I stamped on transparency that was left over from a different project. I embossed the sentiment with Caesar’s Gold embossing powder by Lindy’s Stamp Gang. I punched that out with an EK Success punch and that was it!

SOC DT Project: Celebr8

Hello Krafters!

As all of you know, SOC is celebrating 8 years! How awesome is that? SOC is a place where we can go and share, enable, be enabled, support and just hang out. Since becoming a member at SOC, I have met some of the most amazing people!

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Most of us, if not all of us, have been affected by this disease in some form. No matter the reason, ladies, please go and get checked regularly! It may save your life!

Since October is a special month, I decided to meld the two important events together. However, I did not have any paper I was satisfied with that could reflect the cause. So I decided to make my own! Making your own pattern paper can be fun and you can be as unique as you want to be!

I used Publisher, but you can use any program you have that will allow you to manipulate the images. First I opened the program ensuring there were no margins. Next you want to either add a shape or a text box the size of your document. Right click and go to” format auto shape” and go to fill color. Here, you can change the color, add a texture or a pattern. I decided to go with a pink tissue paper texture (after all, it is think pink month). Once you are satisfied with the filling, click OK.

Now I wanted to add my number 8. I used various fonts at different sizes. I also rotated some of them. After you get a good pattern started. Group your cluster together. Now you can copy and paste to make the process go faster. When the page is filled, go back in and fill in any gaps you may have. You can also adjust the sizes for a more custom look. When you are happy with your pattern, print your work on a printer on your desired material. I used a white cardstock. Now you are ready to make your project!
